This question was posed to me recently:

What IT knowledge is most lucrative?  Does it pay more to have J2EE knowledge?  Or ASP.NET?  Or XML/JS/AJAX Web Development?  Or SAP?  Or SQL/RDBMS?

Definitely, one needs to have well rounded background.  Knowing one, and only one, technology will not be helpful.

But if you are to specialize, which one would you choose?  Of course, with cash in mind.

I don't know the answer.  Do you?

Linux/Unix is hot. It's learning curve is flat  but once you learn it, nothing much changing.

other than that, i guess it is JAVA and Oracle.

if u like programming  .net for sure...

sap is too vast and too much to learn.. so i think it will be hard to break in this field.. otherwise if u have good experience and certification... pay is great...

.

There is an article suggesting - any involvement in an open-source project would help you land in a decent job for an entry level graduate.
