Gurl Interrupted, I think you cannot transfer money out of Nepal legally. Try a "Hundi" you can trust. It worked in my case.

Boy, there is a limit of amount you can bring. A tourist visa holder can apply for TC of US$ 2000 per person per year only. If the person has immigrant visa, he can get permission from Rastra bank for maximum US$ 5000 only.

Back in Nepal, its not only your money...it's also the money of country. So, they don't allow any amount you want to bring with. If the custom discovers that you have more money than permitted on your passport, they can seize it or have to share with the corrupt official

yr parents can send u the money thorugh the bank to yr accounts here... but they or the NRB to be precise, need the following:

1. A letter from your college showiing exactly how much u need including living expenses...
2. If you've already paid for yr college.... send the receipt to yr parents.. they need to show it to NRB....

if possible, send the recepit through fax, scan and email whatever possible...

this should work if u go to college here.... it worked with me..

best of luck...
