I live In California . I went NEW YORK FOr work just 2 months stayed with friends .
i have w-2 from newyork .need to file tax . Newyork filing is so tough so pls give me some idea how i need to file ?

New York has very tough rules regarding new york source income.  If your W-2 shows New York wages then you must file New York Non-resident income tax return.  You should also file California Resident income tax return if you are a resident of California.  You can take a credit of taxes paid to New York on your Califonia return.

You should contact a professional to clarify your tax situation.

If you need help, let me know.  I work for a CPA firm and prepare taxes.
