I am greencard holder and i am married since 4 months with f1 student. She is in F-1 visa as an international student and we have not applied for anything yet. We have just registered our marriage. Now  I wanted to know how will  I be able to file joint tax when she does not have SSN. She does not have SSN so I don;t how will I do it? And will it be benificial for me to use her as a dependant and filing a tax or not?

yes you can but you gotta be careful.

You can apply for TIN (Tax Identification Number) for her (for tax purposes). TIN number is for illegal immigrant to pay taxes on their income. IRS laws are weired, they can't prosecute illegals for working but they can prosecute for tax evasion if they don't pay tax on that income.

I assume that you are planning to file married filed jointly to avoid paying taxes on your income and your wife doesn't have "taxable" income as she does not have SSN.

You should know that you CANNOT claim your wife on tax if she is non-resident alien. So, you should be prepared to payback IRS in case your tax return gets auditted.
