Don't be surprised if people start protesting on the street to be able to get married with the animal like dog, cat etc. Nobody would have thought few decades ago that people would be getting married with somebody of same sex. Homosexuality has been there since the beginning of man kind. Of course, it was a taboo and hidden in most cultures and civilization. The earliest well documented record shows up in the greek civilization. It was very common during the time of Aristotle, Socrates and Plato. Alexander, the great, was in fact gay. Then it became very popular during the Renaissance period among the wealthy and the artists. The western civilization has been dealing with it for quiet a long time.

In the East, it was mostly hidden and to say it never existed is flat out stupid. What makes East unique is that the acceptance and the popularity of "Eunuch". The Chinese culture of royalties had eunuch since the beginning of their kingdom. Indians have them too as we know it. The irony is "eunuch" is a greek word, which means it was common there too.

But there are some primitive culture (Papa New Guinea) even to this day that practise a form of homosexuality that was started during ancient time. Their culture is one of the oldest, much older than the Chinese, Indian or the Europeans by thousands of years. They go as far as 60,000 years back. Many tribes of Papa New Guinea (those you see on tv, walking naked with weird tatoo, feathers and weapons) have a homosexual practise and everybody has to do it. It is their culture. Just as we don't hesitate to claim the savage practise of animal sacrifice as our culture, they don't hesitate to be proud of their gayness. Hahahahhh. It is true, go study their culture.It is a very fascinating country. Don't ever think since they were gay, they should be weak. It is a warrior culture and even practised cannibalism for a while in the past. They were fierce warriors. But the christian missionaries are discouraging them these days.

Europens have accepted it and have moved on for few hundred years now. Americans are finally waking up to the reality. Withing 10-20 years, gay marriage will be mainstream in America. For us, love it or hate it, change is inevitable. The faster you accept it, the less to deal with. We, Nepali, have more important things to deal with than gays. Let them have it and focus on the bigger issues.
